and then they go right and you go left and this is continued until one person decides to either let the other go first or step to the side, but you avoid eye contact unless you're brave enough to ask them, "Shall we dance?". I wonder if there's a phrase for that. You know what I'm talking about.

I've always called it the shall we dance phenomenon. I don't know the real term for it, but it sure makes me laugh when it happens....
