No, we can't depend on what we're told. Only if Bush has a nervous breakdown and is spillin' the beans on everything! And coming from an Iraq vet who is now a policeman- we don't hear what happens over there until 3 days later, so we're behind on what's actually happening, anyway.

You really believe the US intelligence agencies "lied" about "everything?' Or, isn't it more likely that they were "wrong" about "some things?"
It's good to be skeptical. However, you should look at specific claims being made, and then ask what the proof/evidence is for it. It's okay not to believe something. But, to say that everything the intelligence community says about Iran is a lie is a bit much. Iran itself admits it is developing nuclear technology. Iran itself says it wants to wipe certain other countries off the map, and that the United States specifically is going to fall. I mean, some of this you can take their own words for it. Or, do you think that other nations merely mind their own business and the U.S. is the only country that bothers anybody?
Q&A Queen: some of that was wrong - not all of it. And being wrong and "lying" are two different things. It's obvious that the Bush Administration was sure they'd find WMD there. George Tenet testified it was a "slam dunk", Powell said they were positive and showed pictures of what he said were weapons factories, ex-CIA guys got on the news programs and said they knew where the nuclear weapons facilities were, British intelligence was sure, Russian intelligence was sure, the French were sure because they SOLD certain things to Iraq, and even the left wingers in this country were sure because they said that the US itself sold WMD to Iraq (remember that?). Not having WMD's turn up was certainily not good for the Bush Admin's plans.... it certainly slowed down the march to Iran and N.Korea.

don't u see a pattern here honey, first they blame UBL for the 9-11 attacks (they also blamed him for the Oklahoma bombings), so they blame Saddam for harboring UBL, but it isn't enough to make a case for war in front of congress..... so they come up with that cock-and -bull story of WMD that can be deployed in 45 mins (but Hans Blix disproves the administration).
so when they are in Iraq fighting the insurgency right now and are not winning they blame Iran and Syria for supplying weapons to the insurgency..... so this is Washington's forgien policy is "when
the going gets tough let's start blaming "

No. Regardless of your political persuasion or even if you have none. I mean think about it. If they lied to us, why should they be believed now. If they honestly just got it all wrong, then what's to say they don't have it wrong now.
Either way their version of things cannot be trusted.
Prospero 8: the problem is that "evidence" WAS presented in case for Iraq and it was all wrong. Remember the "evidence" that the Iraqi's had mobile bioweapons labs? The evidence that Mohammad Atta met with Iraqi security officials in Germany. Again, whether they lied or were mistaken the evidence was WRONG.

Yes you should believe US intelligence concerning Iran.
And regardless of the liberal media spin, US intelligence was correct on Iraq. Saddam had WMD and he started paying the families of suicide bombers $25,000 (which in combination is what brought him down).
