a cheque is valid for 6 months from the date written on the cheque. It has been known for some banks not to check the date though ! But becuase it is only valid for 6 months once written, you would have some comeback with the bank. Cheques unwritten have no expiry. I know this because i used to work for a banking group which was an umbrella for 3 banks. It was the same for all of them.

It depends on the bank the cheque is drawn on but the standard is 6 months from the date of issue.

I think you'll find that after six months it dies. Most cheques have "Must be presented within six months" printed on them.

Technically for ever, but most banks will usually fail to honor them after three months...

6 Months - Then you have to have it contersigned by the payee again changing the date.
