They live until 1.5-2.5 years with the average being 2 years. I have heard of a few hamsters living until 3 years of age. A few people claim to have had hamsters live until 5 years of age but I have a hard time believing that. It makes me suspect that a dead hamster was switched with a live one that looked just like it without the owner knowing.
If you're concerned about how long a new pet will live before purchasing one, then I recommend that you go to a breeder. A good breeder will selective breed for health and temperament. The breeder can also educate you on the proper diet to feed the hamster. A well balanced diet and a quality hamster will live much longer than one from a pet store being feed a basic seed mix.

A Syrian hamster's lifespan is approx 2 - 3 years The Chinese and Roborovski dwarves live approx 3 years. However life spans do vary and depend also on the correct care and their genetics.
Two of ours at the moment have just passed the three years and as yet are not showing any signs of ageing. They are eating everything, using their wheels and using their exercise balls.:)

Usally 1-3 years.But sometimes they can like to 3-5 years,but normally no older than 5 years of age.I hope I helped,and got best answer!

it depends on where you got yours from,mine from petsmart lived to be 4 but my other one from petco only lived to be 1 usually you wont get them to live longer then 4 years.
