I think its a bit of an over-reaction,yes it was a good innings but the best odi ever for an englishmen ever-come on!!, if thats the best odi hundred ever then the poms haven't had alot to smile about over the years,
collingwood scored most of the runs through running two's and singles
im sure players like pietersen, botham, gower, etc have done better
maybe its the bets freddie can remember after having such a dismal summer.

It is hard to find an innings that would beat it, given the significance of the victory that came about due to that innings. The only one that night match it would be Neil Fairbrother's 75* against South Africa in the 1992 World Cup match in Melbourne.

England originally needed 237 of 50 overs, but a rain delay combined with the stupid rain rules at the time meant that the target was reduced to 221 of 41 overs. Fairbrother came in at 3-64 when England had just lost 3 for 1 in the space of an over. He kept the innings together and guided England home. At that particular time in world cricket, 75 off 83 balls was an outstanding effort, particularly given the situation he was faced with.

Yes, definitely. How many people would have thought that, against a mighty team like Australia, chasing 253 to win, and down 3 wickets for just 15 in 8 overs, England could win the match.

Really it was a superlative, matchwinning effort.

he's a self fish guy . no count number what crew is going through he will play his recreation in accordance to his suggestions set. there is little question that Sachin and Kapil have a more beneficial one-day record. Gavaskar's innings of 36 no longer out (in 60 overs) on the 1975 international Cup drew dissimilar flak and is sometimes stated as data of his 'selfishness'. on reflection, Gavaskar grow to be per chance being actual to his batting skills, one which grow to be exemplified through his immaculate defence, infinite patience and an suggestions-set that required him to be 'egocentric' in amassing runs. If in trouble-free terms Sachin Tendulkar were endowed with Gavaskar's psychological school and his meant 'selfishness' for runs! Gavaskar continually disgusts maximum persons with biased remark and egocentric habit. This has run 4 many years in all now. His senseless help of SRT alongside with Shastri nauseates audiences. This SRT ‘seize’ dishonest incident – Dravid grow to be criticized. Then in the most suitable, at the same time as SRT did not walk after being stuck behind – Gavaskar saved silent. Makes you imagine he's in his personal fool international.

Andrew Flintoff is a young man so he wont have seen many great innings, Collingwood is a tough athletic competitor, but I don't think he beats Ian Botham.

While I agree that the century made of Paul Collingood was one of the best made by an England batsman, I do not think that it cannot be termed as the best so far as there has many other batsmen also scored centuries, which are also best
