I have a very special mom/granmama who is turning 55 years old. She cares about my family so much. She adores her grandchildren. And takes care everything we need because she hates to see us struggling (well within reason- we have her support). She is also a person who lives in pain and the doctors can't figure out why. I want to (with my 2 and 5 year old) make her a great birthday party with little money (because we have almost none) that would be so much fun for her. Any ideas?

Get the children to make her cards and let them help you bake a decorate a cake, she will be over the moon take her out for the day some where different, may be the seaside just let her spend time with you and the kids as it sounds as though she loves you all very dearly, you do't need much money when you have a loving caring family time with each other is special. Have a great day and happy birthday to your Nan

I would say a sleepover is perfect, you can take her shopping before, and let her choose food for the party, pizzas, burgers, cakes, etc... you could have a barbeque outside if its nice and you have a big enough garden? let her choose some decorations for the house and hep put them up, buy some disposable cameras so they can all take pictures! i always find that so fun! you could make up some party bags for everyone, and it could really be both boys and girls or just girls depending on how comfortable the girls mum would be having boys sleep over. i love sleepovers even now, and if you make it exciting, not just a generic "few friends over and a movie" kinda night, i think it's a great (and cheaper!) way of having an amazing time that she can remember!!

This sounds cheesey but i'd go for a picnic, somewhere nearby but with a good view and room for the kids to play. I think she'd like it but that's just me. Hope it goes well anyhoo :)
