I recently recieved an invitation in to become a member of Delta Sigma Thetas Grad Chapter based on my profession as a Registered Nurse and my active community involvement, however, once I informed the person that invited me that I have an Associates degree which I received from an accredited 4 year college, not a community college, I was informed that I would not be able to pledge because I must have a bachelors degree or graduate degree. Can anyone out there assist me in finding answers.

To get into any of the NPHC organizations you must be either pursuing a bachelors degree (joining undergrad) or already have a bachelors degree (joining grad chapter). That is simply one of our requirements. We can't just allow anyone to be a member. If you are a very respected member of the community they might consider extending you honorary membership.

I don't know much about Delta Sigma Theta, but...

As a private organization, they can set whatever standards they want. In this case, as a "graduate" organization, they define "graduate" as having at least a "four-year" degree.

This is actually a pretty common definition.

If they don't want you, you're better off without them. Surely, there are good nursing organizations that have no such restriction. Why do I say this: because there must be many people like you that have an associates degree, only, as well as the RN creds.

regrettably, when you're attending a school the position a financial ruin of a NPHC sorority/fraternity is chartered and that financial ruin is suspended there is not any way for you to affix. you basically isn't waiting to pledge at a interior of sight college. If it is fairly the position your heart is stay helpful in regardless of you're doing and pursue Delta on the graduate aspect once you grow to be eligible to take action. i understand this isn't what you needed to take heed to, yet sorry it is the reality.

Because they are snobby idiots who have one set of rules for their alumna operation and another for their college operations?
