How do you check your text messages on a phone that broke?

My Verizon cell phone broke and I was wondering if there is a way to check my text messages online or something. I know how to check my voice mails but I don't know if there is a way to check my text messages. Maybe threw a website or something?

you can also buy a new cell phone and switch the sim card
