Probably just picking algae and small animals off the snails shell as extra food. I wouldn't worry in the least.

Taste's good - easy target. lol Their just testing their environment, and will probably stop as they age. If you are worried about the snail try keeping it apart from the fry for a while, but the fry aren't going to do any real damage while they are small.

I have the same thing happening but nothing to worry about. just 'grazing' on the shells. many wild animals have a "eat it if it moves" response to motion so they may be just reacting to the moving shells.

Tastes good? They are obviously getting or trying to get something they want,or need. I wouldn't worry.
