Definitely latitudes - for a start its easier to make an anagram out of them. Anyway latitudes have a real physical significance - they represent (angular) distances from the equator with all that that implioes in terms of the angle of the sun overhead, day length variation etc etc. Longitudes are just angular distances from a N-S line arbitrarily drawn through Greenwich, London (or Paris, if you're French).
