I think you saw that, under the veneer of civilization, we are still animals during Hurricane Katrina. As a society we better raationalize the racism. We also often confuse classism and racism in this nation.

No, civility and political correctness are ways for people to avoid using terms may be deemed by others as racist. At a minor level racism is the words you use, but the worse 'manifestations" are discriminating in various facets of life, such as hiring or basing raises on race rather than merit or turning down an application based on race. Then, of course, there is the unreasoning hate which is probably the worse form when expressed.

Racism is an overused word. It is a word that has been the catch all for people that are either ignorant of other words to use or a lazy way of looking at a more complex problem. Simply because a white person doesn't agree with the silly retheric from people like Sharpton, Farakan and Jackson doesn't mean that they are a racist. It does mean that they have an opinion other than that of the person asking the question.

No. Civility is the mark of a civilized person. It indicates respect for the other person. It is treating the other person the way that you would like to be treated.
Political Correctness, on the other hand, is conforming to the directives of the Political Correctness Nazis. The PC crowd attempts to influence words and deeds, and even thoughts through intimidation. If you don't adhere to their code of conduct, you are branded a racist, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe, isolationists, or some other disparaging appellation.
Besides making a person look like a fool, political correctness is the promotion of an agenda. This agenda is a repudiation of our traditional culture. This does not imply that a person who rejects political correctness is a racist or a bigot. It just means that he or she can see political correctness for what it is, an attempt to intimidate.

rasicm and prejudice was an important part of people long ago . why because long long ago most people wouldnt travel more than 10 or so miles from where they where born meaning that ever village and tribe or watever had thier own customs and because of a relativly small gene pool there would be easiar to identify one another. Now at days this concept makes increasingly less sense but for example it is only natrual for one person to connect to another when they have something incomine and face it people's first impretions are based on looks wether it be skin color accent cloths or wat ever we all look to connect to people who share our belifs ece. IN CONCLUSION RACISM IS WRONG BUT ITS PART OUR SOCIETY
