I think Jewish- I know I as a Catholic dispense guilt to my kids muchg less vocally than my Jewish sister in law!

Catholicism is the fulfillment of Judaism.

Could we say Catholic guilt is the fulfillment of Jewish guilt?

Jewish guilt is worse because there is no escape hatch. Catholic guilt is bad but at least they can buy their way out, by buying indulgences, by confession and absolution, or if all else fails by spending a while in Purgatory working off their alleged debt.

Confession is actually a good thing psychologically, it relieves the pressure of guilt. Jews are stuck with the guilt they feel and it develops into self-hatred, which can sometimes actually be productive - it produces the likes of Woody Allen - it's no surprise that most of the greatest comedians are Jewish.

But the Jewish angst is dangerous when it leads them to delusions of being "chosen" or superior to others such as to the Palestinians.

So both kinds of guilt are bad news but of the two the Catholic kind is much less destructive to the person concerned and less destructive to others too.

I do not know about Jewish but I was raised a Catholic. Self Guilt is part of the brain wash of all religions.

I think they are neck and neck. I was raised Catholic and my aunt married a Jewish man so I have been exposed to both. Guilt is a total waste of time and energy. We need less of that, and more of positive thinking and moving forward.

i individually do no longer comprehend approximately Catholic Guilt, yet Jewish Guilt is rattling efficient, breaking one's will to do something via fact deep down the frustration is heart-wrenching. by some potential, i've got survived it, however.

Probably both the same but for some reason the world is dirty on jews which makes things a whole lot worse for them.....and maybe the catholics should get over the attitude that they can do what they want 6 days a week so long as they confess on the 7th......Maybe we should abolish religion until we all get over ourselves and realise there is only one god and thats that....maybe ..

If there is prov-en guilt it does not matter which community, religion or Nation's gilt is worse. After all the guilt must be condemned and the guilty must express regret.
