how does the nba league work? who is at the top? i dont understand how it works, please someone explain to me. thanks

the team with the most wins = the best. for example this year the mavs have the best record and are the best team. the suns are second, the jazz third, and the spurs fourth. notice no eastern conference teams are in the top 4 because they suck. Anyways, the top 8 from each conference are put in to a play off bracket and the winner of each conference plays the winner of the other conference. the winner of this matchup is the champion.

The team which has the most wins is at the top at each conference (east/west), and the 8 best teams of every conference advance to the playoffs, 1st place from each conference playing 8th place from the same conference, 2nd playing 7, 3rd playing6, and 4th playing 5th. The winner from the 1st-8th game plays the winner from the 4th-5th game, and the winner from the 2nd-7th game plays the winner from the 3rd-6th game. the winners from those games play each other, and the winner of those games go to the NBA finals, which is the best east team against the best west team.

what do you mean? it is made up of 30 franchises and the commisner is david stern. the best team right now is dallas and there is an all-star game on 2/18/07. the best in the east is detroit pistons my fave

they all play each other, but are split up into different regional conferences. those regional conferences are merged into east and west and the top teams play in playoffs at the end of the season.
