Without knowing squat about him, I can be reasonably sure that he's going to be tired from working by the time he gets home. My recommendation? Do something fun and relaxing. Have a nice dinner ready for him when he gets home, or close to it so he has some time to decompress and shower if he wants. Maybe move dinner someplace you don't normally eat. Have a bed picnic! Dress up. Plan to watch a movie together after dinner. You can always go out and do something on another night, but I do understand that you want to do something Wednesday night. If you guys do something simple, you're at least acknowledging the day and still not putting so much pressure on cramming something in.

Why don't you make him one of his favorite dinners while you wait for him to get home at 9? Make it a simple yet elegant candle-lit affair. Serve it with fresh bread and a favorite wine. Follow this up with a bubble bath or a shower massage for two. Finish the romantic evening in bed. You can fall asleep after in plenty of time to wake relaxed and refreshed for the morning.
Good luck.

you could celebrate on a day when u both are off...or you could make him some yummy cookies or something similar and eat them together and watch a movie or just spend time together.. you dont have to get gifts, just spend time with the one you love!

Stay up 'til ten or eleven. I think American idol's on this Wednesday at nine. You can watch it together with a blanket and some ice cream! Have a good V-Day!

get your favorite take out ordered. you go pick it up and have it all laid out for when he gets home. just sit and enjoy the dinner. or you could cook his favorite meal. for dessert have some chocolate and strawberries - even one of those cool chocolate fountains to dip the stuff in.
really it isn't about gifts just being together :)
