Hi,

Im looking to open up a club / music venue from a industrial unit i rent. The people who i rent from are fine and it has 2 music studios either side.

If i get it all done up.

What do i need to get done before i can open?
Heath / Safety etc? Anything else before i can open to the public?

It will have an entertainment license. (Anyone know how hard this is to go about)

Thanks

License requirements vary immensely from state to state and city to city.

Where I live you would need a dance floor license (bizarre as that sounds) as well as an entertaiment license (The police vice department takes care of both of those.) The buiding modifications will have to be approved by the builing inspector. Alcohol? You'd need a liquor license from the state (biiiiig bucks) and city permit.

Next you'll need liability insurance.

Finally, you'll need a performance license from ASCAP (even if if you only have bands that play original music!) However, don't volunteer, eventually they'll find you and present you with the bill, which varies with potential occupancy and number of days you're open.
