People are racist against cultures they do not understand and don't make any effort trying to.

For the most part, they have been taught that from a very young age. Look at how the Palestinians have been taught to hate the Israelis. They are even taught that on their TV shows. I think it stems from the Civil War days and has been handed down through the family every generation. My grandfather came from Germany and joined the Union army and so my family was taught they right way to think. I'm white with several cultures in my family. Cherokee, Black Dutch, German and a wee bit of Irish don't ya know.
I'm not fond of racists at all but there are some that keep making the racists justified (the bad eggs) and every race has them. I say to hell with them, enjoy your life the best you can and ignore the pea brains.

Well, it's an excellent thought, I'm all for people minding their own business. Live and Let Live, if you ask me.
I truly find it shocking that there are still people who believe being a Racist is "acceptable"..
Now as for your actual question, "Why are people racist?"
Because they are shallow, ignorant, uneducated, narrow minded fools. End of story..
I believe that as Children of the same God, we are to love one another unconditionally, we have not been placed here to judge our fellow brothers and sisters.
I also believe strongly in the Golden Rule.
Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

It's intellectually lazy to be racist. People don't want to make the effort to actually think and comprehend why people are the way they are. It's much easier to catagorize them my dear some people just don't want to make the effort to understand and it's sad. People also if they have no achievements of their own to be proud of will take pride in say their race or any kind of social hierarchy to instill a sense of false pride.

Personally, I think a lot of people have a very strong "us and them" instinct that blinds them to how much they have in common with others, and that causes them to feel threatened by anyone who doesn't have the same appearance and cultural references they do. There's more to it than that but I think that's a contributing factor.

one reason about blacks is they have a far higher rate of black violence against whites then the other way around, they are given promotions in the military because of their color even though many are incompetent as leaders, one black major said in front of me, he does nothing all day,and laughed about it. Not so towards the chinese, they usually aren't trouble makers, and are hard workers. Even many mex only want to work and believe in marriage. Now of course i don't mean all blacks but i mean the majority, however people love to live in lah lah land, amd say only small minded people are racist, no they are REALISTS. France never had black slaves--yet they have a real problem with blacks in the city, who don't work, hang around the train station trying to pimp out girls,and sell drugs. i've seen it many times, also in Germany, blacks trying to marry white girls so they can live off welfare. I lived there and was told first hand the police do not like blacks, look at Africa its like they are under a curse. however if you want to be a law abiding citizen and moral, i like you no matter who you are, so it really comes down to morals.

because those poeple dont really understand other cultures and instead of trying to learn about their differences and accept them they want to think that their way is better and stay ignorant and put down others

alot of people are raised that way and some are taught to believe in racism due to what has happened to them in the past.
