I'm a 27-year-old woman, mom of two kids, and I have some health issues that means I HAVE to take some good vitamins.
I get the One-A-Day for Women formula. While we're on the subject, she should also be taking a calcium supplement, since most women don't get an appropriate amount of calcium and the best way to avoid problems with osteoperosis when you're old is to make sure you get adequate calcium when you're young. My great-grandmother and grandmother suffered with osteoperosis, and it's horrible. The calcium should be taken at a different time than the vitamin, since taking them together can affect how well they are absorbed.
Also, vitamins should be taken with a full glass of water (not soda, juice, coffee, etc), to help it be absorbed and reach its maximum potential.
To sum up:
One-a-Day Womens formula with a full glass of water
Calcium supplement later in the day (Tums is good, but so are Viactive and Rolaids)

This is all the information I have based on knowledge and experience. But, it really will be trial and error. I really like things that have maximum absorption. I will say that Vitamin E helps with hair and nails, and even your skin. Just don't take a ton of Vitamin E, it's not good for you in large amounts. Iron is what causes stomach irritation. As well as Calcium which can cause constipation. Coral calcium seems to be more gentle. And has maximum absorption in conjunction with Magnesium and Potassium. I do know from experience that fish oil is wonderful for women. Especially your hair. You will notice your hair to be more shiny, and it also aids in growth. Just don't max out the recommended amounts. Sometimes taking the maximum daily dose can have adverse effects. Just use moderation at first. You may find that buying a few individual vitamins versus one multivitamin will give you all that you are needing. BTW, Solaray brand is awesome. It really is. I have two physicians in the family who both use that brand. I also use it, and I have to admit, it is better. I actually order it online because it's a lot cheaper than at the store. They have trusted sources online. Hope this helps.

I recommend nothing but Perfectil. It's the UK's #1 skin, hair and nails triple active multivitamin! Buy a lot of them, its worth it ;) Available on Amazon. Also- drink a lot of orange juice, it helps with absorbing the iron.

Walgreens brand called woman's way for under 5 bucks. If you want a more expensive brand name, go for geritol or centrum.

You can get them over the counter.

I'm a 24 yr old woman, and I take Centrium for women, works fine for me. But I also take Omega3. I think it is important for anyone of any age to take. Omega3 (fish oil) is great for brain health, and if your diet lacks fish (which mine does, b/c I'm really picky about fish) this is good to take.
