By being a friend with your enemy you can find out his/her weaknesses and when they least expect it you can use it against them. Thats what it means.
Or it could also mean, by being freinds with them, they are no longer an enemy, but i would go with the first option if i were you.

One thing is for sure u can't ever destroy an enemy. They were here before your time and will be here soon after you leave. I believe the passage is saying to love thy enemy. U don't have to live with them or invite them into your life -- meaning thinking about their wrong doings, focus on positive people and things. The stronger you are and the more knowledgeable you are the enemy will look to someone else to hunt down because u would be untouchable, however they try try again to seek and destroy.
Peace

If you gain your enemies trust by posing as their friend only to gain an advantage and then use that advantage to destroy them then you have never really been their friend. There is a difference in befriending someone and making them your friend. The moment you destroy your new befriended friend that you have deceptively convinced to be your friend from their perspective, you destroy your "friend" not your "enemy".
Friendship is built from honestly and trust mutual sympathetic love. Once you and your enemy have this type of relationship your enemy and their enemy have been destroyed.

Here s the real answer:
YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR ENEMY IF HE STOPS BECOMING YOUR ENEMY BECAUSE HE IS ALREADY YOUR FRIEND.
Tgnore those other answers. This is what that means.
It means befriend your enemy for a friend supplants an enemy and prevents that enemy from existing.

That is the best strategy to acquire,to be friend your enemy, but always stand up for yourself. Means " nip it on the bud". you can not win by destroying your enemy, like your boss,co worker, friend husband,or wife etc...." Kill your enemy with kindness, from christian doctrine.".another words to live by."For never in this world, Do hatreds cease through hatred; through love alone do the end. This is the ancient and eternal law. This is from buddhist wisdom. You Can benefit a lot from a friend but not from enemy. This is my experience. I bid you peace and love..

This is old Eastern Philosophy and wise advice. It is literal in its meaning. An enemy is not longer your adversary when he becomes your friend. It does not say trick him or mislead him. It comes from the point of view it is better to have friends than enemies. When two enemies become friends there are no losers.

If you start being friendly with an enemy, hopefully they won't be your enemy much longer. You destroy the hard feelings you have toward someone when you become friends with them.

I dont think that destroying someone is as easy as you may think. But befriending your enemy will make him more vulnerable to your attacks since you will be discovering his flaws and vulnerabilities with time. And so, if after befriending him, you still want to 'destroy' him, then it will be much easier for you. I think that the real meaning of this phrase. This is just my opinion.

seems self-explanatory! If you make an enemy your friend, they are no longer an enemy. Therefore you have destroyed your enemy by befriending them.

why? because if your "ENEMY" is your friend then he/she will trust you more than anybody else and when its time to destroy him/her, you just need to let out what he/she hides from the world..the secrets he/she told you..it destroys her/him more if the pain comes from a friend she/he thought is trust worthy!
