Deep Purple did this, its about a concert they did in Switzerland, and somebody burned the stadium down with a Flare Gun. The stadium ovelooked a lake, not sure which one hence the Smoke on the water...

It is well worth investing in their album "Made In Japan" which features a live version much better than the album version which, I think, was on "Machine Head"
Incidentally, if you ever see Beck live, his DJ can spin and scrath records and make the riff from "Smoke In The Water" appear
