You're definitely on the right track, my friend. ANY TIME we as American citizens hand a problem to the government and say "Here, fix this," we are willfully handing over a tiny piece of our freedom by giving the government just a little more authority to exercise over the private citizen. May not be much, but it adds up over time. Pretty soon the government is so big that they start going out and telling US what's wrong and how they're going to fix it, and eventually you get a government that has control over virtually every aspect of our lives.

You're also right when you say the government is very inefficient fiscally. There are no checks and balances for the budget and there is no accountability, so our lawmakers pretty much have a book full of blank checks that they can write. The budget deficit won't be fixed until a law is passed requiring an independent audit of the government every year which will be made available to the American public so we can SEE exactly how much money is being wasted and who is wasting it.

Big Business + Big Government = communism and enslavement of the people

It also means a society of worker bees where small businesses and entrepreneurship is stamped out.

Good point. Yes, I think that would be giving up even MORE of our freedom. We live in the land of the free, but in all actuality, how much freedom do we really have?

Big industries and the government make great bed partners. Or have you not noticed? Ever heard of Haliburton? Just to name one.

Yes, it's the first step towards socialism, communism, dictatorship. That's what the "New" Fidel Castro in Venezuela (Chavez) is doing.

Absolutely. It will have a trickle effect of eventually dictating what every citizen should earn as a wage.

Uh, what is that called again? Gee... I'll bet Hillary knows.
