Six to eight weeks is about the normal time an OB will see a pregnant lady, so I wouldn't be overly concerned. Have you tried talking to your gynecologist? Usually a GYN is also licensed to practice as an OB. You may want to call several Ob's to see if one will see you earlier, but be sure to follow the list of "do's and don'ts" until you do get an appointment. I was blessed to give birth to five healthy kids and if I remember correctly, think I was 6-8 weeks pregnant with each one when I first saw my doctor.
Dealing with the wait time can be fun! Go look at all the cute little baby clothes and nursery furnishings at your local stores. You can get on-line and start looking at names and their meanings, write a nice "announcement" letter to those you love, and start reading up on lots of health info for new pregnant moms so you can start this precious time on the right foot!
How lovely that you are already showing such a strong sense of love and concern for your little one! I think you are going to be a fantastic mom! Annie

This does not sound right to me. I have an OB/GYN. I just had my third baby 6 months ago. With each of my children I was seen by the Doc. a week or two after finding out I was pregnant but was seen by the nurse immediately. With my second child I took a home test. When I called my Doc for an appointment I was seen by the Nurse Practitioner first who examined me and gave me an information bag. I made an appointment to see the Doc. for either the next or two weeks after that. I would call another OB. See if you can get a recommendation from your Gyn. or someone close to you who has had children. You may also be able to go on line to see any comments made about a particular Doc. Just google their name.

I didn't see my OB until I was 9 weeks. It's perfectly normal to be required to wait a little, and as long as you're going in during your first trimester, you'll be fine.
The OB isn't going to be as helpful as you'd think. I mean, they will answer all of your questions, but it's best to get a book or a few books to guide you through. I like what to expect when you're expecting, the week by week guide to pregnancy and a girlfriend's guide. I foolishly thought I'd be given some handbook or something that would completely educate me, but that was not the case.
I'm just finished with my first trimester with my first, and I can relate to how nerve-racking it was to wait to see the doctor and make sure everything was OK. During my first visit (even though I had the pregnancy confirmed via blood work), I was convinced that when she did the ultrasound, nothing would be there. But then, I saw a cute little baby with a great heartbeat, and suddenly my fears were cast aside (until I started to get terrible cramps due to the pelvic exam the following day).
Waiting is something you'll have to get used to. We wait 4 weeks at a time to get back into the doctor, and we can't overlook that pesky 9 months we wait to meet our new addition. Don't worry though, if you're like most of us, you'll start to get some morning sickness and fatigue which should keep you occupied for a few months. Then you can occupy yourself by getting the nursery ready and buying things for your new addition!

This is my 4th baby and I went in at around 7 weeks. I just called them up and said I think Im around 6 or 7 weeks and they told me to come in. I have heard that some even will make you wait until week 12 if you have no problems, but I prefer to be seen immediatley. Maybe you can check out some other OBs

I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks and I didn't get into to the doctors also untill I was 8 weeks. This is normal. They say that home pregnancy test are all you need to know you are pregnant. So don't worry. When you see your doctor they may set you up for an ultra sound to pin point your due date.

I was lucky in a sense because I had just switched doctors when I found out I was pregnant so I didn't tell them why I was coming in, I just made an appointment to meet her and told her then. That was when they thought I was 8 weeks and she wanted to see me every week after that until I was 12 weeks (she does this for all her patients) however I found out I was only 6 weeks a month later. So my answer is actually 6 weeks.

That sounds about right. I think I went in for my first OB check up and that was at about 9 weeks. Also, my doctor wouldn't do a blood test either. They said once you get a postive with a hpt, it cannot be negative. Good luck!

For my first one, they saw me when I was 6 weeks along, my second one saw me when I was 8 weeks along. So I really think it varies from doc to doc. I would try to schedule it for 6 weeks mark to make you feel more comfortable. Alot of time, it is hard to get into the OB just because they are so busy. Most have appointed time slots for new patients and you'll schedule all your future appts on the first appt. (most of the time). Congrats, be patient and good luck!! The next nine months are going to be amazing!

Completly normal, I went for my first appointment at 8 weeks too. I also thought it was crazy! But the wait between all the appointments you will have seems even longer. You will only go once a month up untill about 28 weeks. That wait seems like forever to me.

sounds about right. I saw mine at 6wks and going to see mine again today at 10wks im going to hear the heartbeat. I know its hard to wait. You cain't stress yourself ok its not good for the two of you. When you go for your first visit there going to do blood work and pap test and ask you questions. And you can ask questions so write a list and if they don't want to answer them i advise you change to a doc who cares. If your spotting you need to go to the emergency room. Just to be on the safe side speciall y if your cramping bad. Congadulations and hope all goes well
