What are the rules for which or how many books are read by a student each year? Not educational books but literature.

There are no federal regulations governing the number of books to be read in any genre.

However, I strongly recommend that you read as many and as varied books as possible - and become a life-long learner!

Some states have specific laws and/or guidelines, but there are no federal regulations on this. For standards that are followed in more than one state, I'd suggest you check with the National Council of Teachers of English.
