As a comic store owner I would say Marvel hands down. But as a old school collector I will also say Marvel and I will tell you why? When I started collecting I was a Ironman, Spiderman, Thor buff. I also loved Batman. But when DC released Sha-zam (Captain Marvel) I took sides with Marvel. I read few of those Captain Marvel comics and with villians like worms with a radio around their necks, Super powered intelligent Gorillas, and Toys that come to life vs. the Fantastic Fours Galactus, Doctor Doom, King Pin, even the Master of Kung Fu made me say "Make mine Marvel." I admit that now adays both DC & Marvel have excellent stories and has improved in art from the days of the human fly and the loads of bulk artist that Marvel employed because they can draw fast and meet deadlines without having to draw good. But now I like both, actually I like more DC titles than Marvel. Fickle huh.

I have always been a Marvel guy, but a lot of people say the writing is better @ DC. DC has the power of Time Warner behind them so the comic tend not to get canceled as quickly as they do over @ Marvel. In @2005 Marvel had a bigger market share than DC. http://www.diamondcomics.com/market_share.html
The numbers for 2006 have not come out yet.
I like team books the most b/c books w/one hero can get tried after a while. If you want a funny book give She-Hulk a try. I also like Nightwing @ DC b/c they don't have many crossovers. Captain America has always been one of my favorites.

Does it must be present day? i am going to attempt to p.c.. up even if Simonson and Chaykin are engaged on yet fairly I choose Kirby's Thor -- and Thomas's and Simonson's, Kirby's Fourth international, Barry Smith and Roy Thomas's Conan the Barbarian (I had some effective words about the darkish Horse version previously i began interpreting them yet even as i am going to face through even if I stated then, they strive against to be "real" in thoughts Conan's author Robert E. Howard become so bored with using the names on your human being personality is more beneficial real). some Batman's. no longer Frank Miller or those adult males. Neal Adams and Denny O'Neal's artwork on Batman and eco-friendly Lantern are the properly of DC for me, see.

Marvel is my favorite, and the super-hero is "Wolverine",,I like his attitude, (or lack of it) his lonewolf style, and even under his thick skin, he has a good heart and shows love, but is always getting the short end of the stick (when it comes to love), so he is much of a loner, but can heal fast and fight without question or fear..

I read both growing up. Everyone knows DC's big 3 (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman).
I prefer Marvel.
Cable rocks. So did X-Man, till they killed him off.
