If you had sex before the anitbotics you are in the clear. Antibotics make the hormone ineffective. That means you will get pregnant if you have unprotected sex while taking them. Let a cycle go by after stopping the medicine before unprotected sex so your body can rebuild up the horomones.

you need to be taking the pill for at least 7 days before it is an effective contraception. So if you took your last antibiotic on a Monday then your not really protected until the following Tuesday. Unfortunately if your fella did release even a little *** during the build up it can still get you pregnant. While this doesnt guarantee that you are pregnant, is it really worth the risk? I would suggest visiting your GP for the morning after pill, this can be taken up to 72 hours (3 days) after the accident. Its prescribed for free by your GP but can also be purchased from a good chemist (although at a hefty price). Dont be embarrassed no-one can judge you. You have been sensible in that you used another method of contraception, its just unfortunate that it split.

An excellent question!! Many people are not aware that antibiotics can interfere with birth control. You are safe if you have had the sex a few days before going on the antibiotics. But it is very important that you use a condom for the remainder of this cycle and if you are well into this cycle, it may not hurt to use protection for the next cycle to be certain. If your antibiotics go into the next cycle, definitely use protection for it as well.

Any type of antibiotics can reduce the effectiveness of your birth control pills. Anytime you are on antibiotics, you need to use a backup method of birth control.. The backup method needs to be used for 30 days after finishing your anitbiotics in order to prevent pregnancy.

only during antibiotic administration is there a problem with your birth control. theoretically sperm can live in your body for three days so even on the remote chance of you taking antibiotics three days after sex you'd still probably not get pregnant. no worries.
