The wife of a good friend of mine has been referring to me as her husband's "boyfriend". She's even asks him, "Have you talked to your boyfriend today?"

She's not a homophobe, but she's not keen on me for some reason and I don't give a damn about that. What irks me is her telling people I'm her hubby's boyfriend.

My friend is definitely straight and even if he weren't, I don't feel anything towards him other than friendship. My friend thinks it's hilarious she calls me his boyfriend. I don't like it one bit and suggested he tell her to knock it off. He said he doesn't think it's a big deal. I think she's being a cow.

Am I losing my sense of humour?

Yes, I think you are a bit and I'm not saying this with any malice. We've all become just a tad jumpy these days when even a decade or two ago being someone's girlfriend or boyfriend (even of the same sex) was a common thing.
It's a joke, Dearest, and she doesn't mean anything by it. I DO, however, **see your point**, if someone from beyond the friendly circle got into it and started poking not-friendly fun and things rapidly went down hill. Things can turn nasty quickly.
Try to turn the other cheek for now. She really does mean it well. Just keep an ear open for things that would harm the three of you. Good luck.
In one instance you are her husband's boy friend but not his boyfriend. There's a difference but only when you write it not when it's spoken.(see?)

If anything, they are the crazy ones to believe you really think you're a cat. Who knows? Maybe their sense of humor doesn't show when people claim their cats, they may enjoy the circus instead. Hell, they probably are as bland as the 'clear eyes is AWESOME' guy.

Yes she is joking but you have every right to feel offended. Next time you hear a thing like that simply ask her husband if he has found some better way of spending his time. When he asks what do you mean, simply reply because she thinks her husband is a gay.

Yes, I'm afraid you have lost your sense of humor. It sounds like the wife is being a cow, but he is your friend, therefore you must try to get along with her. Unless he divorces the cow:)

Actually yes, I have many straight friends who I joke around with calling them my "boyfriend(s)". They don't care at all cuz I'm just joking, and your friend's wife is probably doing the same. It probably is a joke on her part that means you spend almost as much or more time with him than she does or something.

The next time the Cow refers to you as her hubby's boyfriend...grab his butt playfully...and kiss his ear. Preferably during an evening get together with mutual friends.

Cows may Moo..but when they risk losing their bulls they graze in silence.

Sounds like she is the one with the issues. Silence speaks louder than words. Don't let her get to you, she is the one with the problem.

I think it very inconsiderate of your so called "good friend" to find this hilarious when you've told him how you feel and asked him to speak to her about it. Ask him once again and if he doesn't ....speak to her myself.

no you are not. There's time when you find it humorous and when to be serious. So you should have a chat with her and let her know that's bothering you and she needs to give it a rest.

i dont think so. i would tell her that it isnt funny and that she needs to stop it. tell your friend that it's hurting your feelings, if it is, and that you would really like his wife to stop. you can tell her the same thing. thats what i would do because i dont think its funny at all.
