In fact, the IM and em information is there so we can have 'social interactions' with people more easily, and not clog up Y!A with chat between individuals intstead of writing questions or giving answers to them. I have no IM or em, but I do give my email address occasionally in an answer to the questioner, and others can and have written to me for at least one reason ... and having contacts makes it easier for people who have similar interests to follow a line of questions, and a 'fan' section helps some who have self-esteem issues get their ego stroked. I'm sorry if this site doesn't fit your wants, but you are not the only person who comes here, and I like Y!A despite the seemingly too easy methods of contact between individuals, and hope it never changes in that regard.

Social interaction is done thru business in & out of office. Social structure is what we build from our daily tasks both on a national level and an international level.
