It is quite possible. I agree with you that some of their earlier music had stronger lyrics and energy. I guess that having been said, it is still a great thing for the Dixie Chicks to have come out of such a hostile situation and still be able to make commercially acceptable music. I personally didn't agree with what that woman had to say, but, I served in the military and believe truly in freedom of speech. I have defended this nation to defend ones right to an opinion. I don't like war, nor do I like seeing Americans getting killed. I just feel that an attack on the President of the United States is not the answer. There are ways to voice your dislike for the war without throwing rocks at our government.

No doubt about it. The best thing one can do to win the adoration of the 'gliteratti' - the media and entertainment elite - is to criticize the right. The fact that the Dixie Chicks actually took a hit to their earnings just means that the left is in overdrive trying to heap adoration and praise upon them.
I never heard of Kanye West until he criticized Bush on live TV. Now he's everywhere. It seems even the NFL likes to give left-leaning activists stage time. I guess Prince is something of an exception - if he's political I never heard about it.

No, I don't think they would have won if the whole President Bush thing hadn't of happened. I didn't think they wanted anything to do with country music anymore BUT they were in the country category. When they won that award and Natalie Maines said "Ha" I thought that was a bit much. The album didn't sell very well either.

they won because there talented and take real time out to create a good album ..Most of these artists out here now don't create music no more they create jibberish.. What happened to the Wilie Nlesons, Smokie Robinsons, Luther Vandross , Reba McEntires , Judds, Anita Bakers, Ninna Simones , Tony Bennets of music .. They are still around creating but these new kids aren't making good quality music like the pioneers of my childhood days..

Hollywood liberals awarded the most vocal haters of President Bush last night... That's all it was about... The album stunk, but since the Dixie Skanks SAY the "right" things about the President, they get their awards.

They most certainly won as you have said. This is an attempt by the liberal media to take a shot at the cons.

I think being political has hurt their career more than it helped. Prior to being controversial stuff, they were pretty popular for the singing with their fans. Even though I'm not fan I do recognize they were music selling machine for a while.

I agree... i believe that winning song of the year and best album of the year was a stretch...at the very least i was surprised at the sheer number of nominations that they received for this album and song... do get me wrong, the song was good...just not that good.

They earned the ones awards. Carrie Underwood sucks. She does not have a presence on degree and he or she suggests no emotions it doesn't matter what music she is making a song. I are not able to wait till she falls. She demands to return residence and pass even though a few rough occasions earlier than on account that she needed to so much of a charmed existence. The album sucks. I heard it. It is a a million on a ten factor scale. The Dixie Chicks are so much higher.
