Last night, I went to bed at 10:30 and couldn't sleep. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep, but nothing ever happened. I just watched the clock tick on and on for 7 hours until I had to get up at 5:30 for school, which I was too tired to go to and I stayed home sick. I stayed in bed until 8:00 but still couldn't sleep!!! Do you know what's wrong with me? What should I do?

--> I don't have that much caffeine
--> I don't sleep during the day
--> I have a good diet, so that wouldn't be it
--> I'm not stressed and I don't have anything on my mind that is keeping me up

This happens to me every once in a while. We live in a very stressful society and even if nothing is on your mind that you are aware of the fact is that something is causing you not to be able to slow down and unwinde from the day. Try puting a little bit of lavender scent on your pillow then go take a bath and reading a book. When you get out drink a glass of milk (don't put ice in it) and go to bed. Good luck you'll feel much better when you wake up after this.
Btw: Bath crystals or the little squishy bath balls will help in the bath as well.

Did you drink tea? Tea keeps you awake. Drink some milk: it has something in it (I don't remember what) that makes you sleep. Make sure your room isn't too hot: it's supposed to be around 16ºC. If you have a television in your bedroom, don't leave it on when you go to sleep. Take light meals at night and if you're a smoker, avoid smoking about 2 hours before going go bed.

Sweetie you probably just need to clear your head. This same thing happened to me. And then after you can't fall asleep for a wihle, you just start freaking out that you're not sleeping and end up losing even MORE sleep! Its a vicious cycle. Just reassure yourself that whatever you're fretting about can wait until tomorrow. Also, know that even if you're not technically sleeping, at least you're laying in bed and RESTING. and you're not up being active. Rest and sleep go hand in hand, so at least get comphy and relax.

The above comments are good. Also, try exercising. Get on a routine and do some cardio or strength training...
I have the same problems and on days I work out, I have no problem falling asleep.

that is unusual for someone in school. You need to take a look at what you may have consumed during the day. Did you drink any coffee, tea, energy drinks. take any vitiamins.
