KBS Coatings makes great tank sealer kits. Choose the kit size for your gallon tank. Use their fiberglass mesh called BackBone (if it doesn't come with it) to patch the hole from the exterior by using left-over sealer after sealing the interior tan. See their tank sealing & patching instructions online.

Ther is some stuff at most auto parts stores that is like JB weld (putty) It works for holes up to 1/4 in.. I would try it

There are companies that repair tanks. Check at radiator stores to see if they do that type of work too.

try using liquid titanium it worked for the seam on one of my gas tank repairs
