I have one maybe every 3 days. And when I have to, it seems like I cant relax enough to get it all out. I know this sounds gross. But I was truley wondering if there are any techniques or breathing tips I could use!! Thanks!

Experts say you should have 3 a day instead of 1 every 3 days. Increase your healthy fats/oils--olive, canola, flaxseed. Eat healthy, fatty fishes. Salmon or tuna are two favorites recommended to be eaten 3 times a week. They also include zinc, beneficial to healthy skin and hair, and Omega-3, highly beneficial to heart health. Drink plenty of water. The recommendation is about 8 cups a day. Buying bottled seems to lend to greater consumption. Eat fibrous foods--celery, carrots (veggies), apples, pears (fruits), whole grains/cereals. These are standard "techniques" for healthy bowel maintenance. As for relaxation techniques, perhaps a regular yoga or pilates routine, that incorporates breathing exercises, would be an asset as well. Definitely see a doctor. You're uniquely you; you may be considered "regular" based on your personal history. Constipation could be a symptom of numerous things. A doc could provide the best regimen or referral. Good luck!

Make sure you are getting plenty of fiber in your diet. Also, realize for many people is normal for have a bm every 3 days. Exercise helps a great deal in allowing for easier bm's also. So, eat more fiber, drink lots of water, exercise and do not limit your time in the bathroom. Sometimes 5 min. seems like an 1/2 hour, so maybe keep a small clock in the bathroom so you are not rushing yourself, that may help you to relax.

The others have some good advice but I'll add one more that should help.

Massage your belly. Make sure you go in the same direction of your colon -- rub up on the right, across the top, down on the left, then over. A belly massage should both relax you and help your bowels move.
