My first girl started her nuby at the same age as your baby, my second girl started at 6 months and my third girl started at 5 months, so each child is different and each child learns things at different stages all closely connected within a small time frame.
After having 3 kids, the oldest being 10 and the youngest being 2, I have found that each of my children are so different and unique and to compare your children to that of a friends really does not give any justice.
Your baby will let you know when he or she is ready and just go with it, other wise you'll panic when he or she does not do something on "schedule"

I tried at 6 and 9 months, but he wasn't interested. When he was a year old, I discovered Nuby sippy cups. It was a perfect transition from a bottle to a regular sippy cup.
I would wait until your baby can sit up for extended periods of time before introducing it. Also, be prepared to experiment quite a bit before you find one your baby will like. Finally, if he/she gnaws on the Nuby, it will eventually break down and start to leak. You'll need to watch them carefully.

I actually didn't give my twins sippies til they were about 6 months old. They didnt master drinking from them til about 11 months though, but it worked out because i was able to take the bottle at a year like i wanted to. It was kinda hard for them to learn to hold them sippy the right way, tip it up ect....but the earlier the better, gives them more time to learn. I think whenever you want to start giving your baby a sippy, is fine. Just watch because sometimes the flow of the milk/juice/water is quicker then from a bottle. Good luck!

My son is 4 months and I have introduced the sippy cup already. He loves it! I'd say give it a go and if your baby likes it then keep it up and if not then reintroduce it again at another time. Each baby is different and does things at different speeds than others. Those books only go on averages so don't follow them to the letter. Just make sure not to give baby too much because it should not interfere with their bottles.
Best of luck x

I basically asked approximately giving a six month previous a sippy cup & each and all of the solutions mentioned to decide for it... Jaxon is our 4th yet I constantly gave my different 3 the sippy cup @ around 8 months. i p.c. to start him early... i will even get one in a pair of weeks & start up attempting (he would be 4 months on the sixteenth) All of our little ones have been off the bottle in the previous 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (1st grew to become into bf) yet I nonetheless think of i p.c. him weened off it till now... a million difficulty i comprehend is whilst introducing a sippy cup on your infant that's ultimate first of all a soft spout so it is not any longer so perplexing for them.

I gave my daughter a sippy cup at 5 months. It worked out pretty good, but she has a hard time tipping it up enough still.

The health department recommends offering a sippy cup at 6 months old with formula in it. You are not supposed to put juice in bottles either.

nuby's are great but i'd wait until the baby was crawling and able to hold the sippy cup on it's own. my daughter was 10 months old when i gave them to her. it was a big adjustment because they're not regular bottles and the child actually gets more milk, juice or water then they do with a regular bottle. so be careful of that too.

My son used both at about 6 months. Then one day he decided he only wanted to sippy. Some will take it earlier than others. I used the Gerber one with the slip cover over it, he liked the feel of it and colors on it. Good luck.

Both of my girls were breastfed and wouldn't take a bottle. They both started on the sippy cup at about 4 or 5 months. You're right on schedule. Good luck!
