however, isn't justice the same thing? If someone has been mean to me, I want to get back at them. However, it is not illegal to be mean. So I want to see them pay for what they did. If they had committed a crime against me, I would have the law n my side to seek "justice." Why is "justice" seen as good, but "revenge" is seen as bad?

Good question. I think the two can mix. It's like if someone harmed my daughter or granddaughter I would want to see them pay and pay dearly. I think the difference between the two is merely the law. If someone commits a crime against us, then we seek justice and the justice supposedly fulfills our need for vengeance. But not in all cases, I have seen forensic files and some family members do not seem fulfilled with a guilty verdict and a sentence. If you seek justice outside of the law then you are getting vengeance (which ironically is a crime itself).

Maybe the answer is simply vengeance is wanting someone harmed/killed so that you feel better. Justice is seeing someone being punished for a wrong that they did.

Justice is vengeance in accordance with the law, which was erected for the good of society. It is, essentially, what the law says you get, or can do, in case somebody wrongs you.

Vengeance is seeking justice outside of the law, either because the law doesn't care, or the law doesn't give you enough of what you want.

The reason justice is good and vengeance is bad is that justice is fair to everybody, whereas revenge is just you striking out at somebody in whatever manner you feel appropriate.

Hi, it is very simple actually.
Justice: The actions of the Group - society - to bring Ethics back on to the individual when the individual fails in his ethics.
Ethics: the actions or inactions toward survival of the individuals, families, groups, mankind, animals and plants, all material things, one's thoughts, ideas, feelings, emotions, etc., and the Supreme Being, or God or Infinity, or Eternity, or Allah, Jehovah... All aligned.
Revenge: An action showing negative emotion toward an individual or group in result of an hostil action from this individual or group.

Now you should understand why revenge is not a good thing to do. Look at it from an independet point of view. If you revenge, you may be under some kind of stress and it could be the wrong action, the one you would take. Hurt individuals are always under stress and the case should be evaluated by somebody from outside.

Sometimes Justice is late but it doesn't miss or fail. And if you are right about something, just get all the data on it, some witnesses and sue the individual or group.

Good point, but someone steals from you its a crime, if you got back by stealing from them, it would also be a crime. Justice means unacceptable against society, not just one person, so what is wrong for one is wrong for all, unless its the death penalty apparently. An eye for an eye is a morality ethical issue. What is right, just and fair and what is the law can be two different things.

Justice pertains to judgment, that's the project of merited rewards or punishments. As all people who has taken a psychology classification is conscious, punishment is something that decreases the probability of an action interior the destiny. If a individual is sentenced to eternal damnation, then there is not any destiny for them; their soul will stay there in spectacular suffering and affliction for all eternity. via fact there is not any destiny for the guy who has been condemned there, hell is an invalid punishment. this implies it may in trouble-free terms be revenge, no longer justice.

I think vengeance or revenge are attacks to make a victim feel more powerful, where true justice would be a fair punishment for what was done to the victim.

Justice is a process such as court proceedings and Vengeance is an act usually brought forth from fear and anger. The difference would be hanging someone without a trial by his pears.

its not the same thing. there is a big difference betweengetting justice by putting a man behind bars for raping and killing someone and getting revenge because your best friend "stole" your boyfriend. see the difference.

Revenge is taking "justice" into your own hands. You aren't having the law PROVE they did it or letting them give THEIR side. You are attacking them.
