Howard K. Stern has returned to the Bahamas and vows that Anna Nicole Smith's estranged mother will never see her grandchild, Dannielynn Hope.

Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, reportedly flew to the Bahamas and tried to gain access to the child while Stern, listed as the father on the infant's birth certificate, was grieving over Smith's unexpected death in Hollywood, Fla., the New York Post reported.

Stern was reunited with his child in front of cameras from "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider."

"This is the only piece of Anna I have left," said Stern as he scooped up Dannielynn.

"I wouldn't be here now, but I had to get back to Dannielynn. I know Anna loved her more then anything in the world," he said tearfully.

But Stern's sadness didn't last for long; it quickly turned to anger when the subject of Arthur came up.

"Anna despised that woman. As long as I have breath in my body, that woman will not see Dannielynn," Stern raged.

All Annas mama sees is dollar signs! I have been looking at Anna Nicoles genealogy and all I have to say is no wonder Anna Nicole was the way she was! Her mother Virgie Tabers had Anna Nicole (aka Vickie Lynn Hogan) at age 16 and she had already had one baby! The baby born before Anna Nicole was a child that she had with her step-brother, David Luther Tacker, son of step father George William Tacker of all people. According to Texas marriage records she has been married to at least 5 people (Donald Hogan, Donald Hart, Joe D Thompson, James T Sanders and James H Arthur!) and she is 55 years old! Anna Nicole didn't live with her mother growing up. It is documented in Wikipedia that she lived with an aunt. There must have been some degree of disfunctionality there. Ole Vergie had 3 children with three different daddies. At least Anna Nicoles bio father had all of his remaining children with one woman!!

I can't believe that she went down to the Bahamas to stake her claim on her granddaughter. According to Wikipedia, Anna Nicole was raised by her aunt, not by her mother. Why couldn't she be a mom to the three kids she had with three different men? I would say that giving any kind of custody to Anna Nicoles so called mother would be detrimental to that innocent baby. She failed her own children, what makes her think that she can be any kind of role model now?

Anna Nicole Smith Mother

According to Anna... she was exposed to several types of abuse to include mental..physical.. emotional.. and sexual. The sexual came in with her mothers husband or boyfriend. You know given where she is from... I tend to believe there is some truth to what she says. She became very emotional when questioned and her tears seemed very true. Also when a small time girl comes into cash (no matter how) the family has a tendency to always want something. They may even feel that she owes them for raising her and feeding her.. clothing her.. etc. The problem with that is.. that's what families do! You don't get any Kudos and accolades for doing what you are supposed to anyway. Anna was a lost soul. She looked for love in all the wrong places and I felt her pain. I only regret these so called " men in her life" talking trash after she is gone. Why didn't they do it when she was alive and where were they when she needed them? There are 2 sides to every story and I firmly believe Anna had big issues with Big Vergie. Peace Be On Her...

It DOES seem curious that the media isn't addressing this question!

For some unknown reason, Anna Nicole evidently turned her back on her family a long time ago. Howard K. Stern seems to have driven the wedge between them even further. Personally, I think once Anna Nicole became rich & famous, she didn't want her "dirt-poor" family interfering in her high-rolling lifestyle, and didn't want them to help drain her wealth. I believe she probably thought she earned every red cent of that money on her own, and regarded her family as being "needy", and didn't want to be burdened by their problems. It's sad, but I'd be willing to bet she & her mother had some serious "issues" from very early on!

Supposedly since Howard K Stern came into her life, it was said he was very controlling and would not allow her to call or speak to her family. I watched the whole season of her reality show when it was on, and I got the impression that when she tried to reunite with some of her extended family, Stern felt that Smith was now somehow better than her family and should no longer associate with them. He thought her family was an embarassment to her.
Smith and her mother were very close most of her life, as her mother raised Smith's son, Daniel for several years while she danced and worked at odd jobs.

I know that they were saying that it was because her son Daniel told his grandmother that he loved her and Anna got upset. She told him that he should only love his mother. I think that Howard K. Stern is a terrible man. That may not be his child and he wants to keep her from her natural grandmother. He'd better watch his step because if they find the same drugs in Anna's system as they did in Daniel's then he's going to jail.

I'm wondering if perhaps Anna's hatred was as a result of being brainwashed into believing her mother was bad. Stern will definitely have a battle on his hands if he thinks he can keep Anna's mother from seeing her grandchild.

Knowing this lady might not be necessary to understand why she hated her mother. Her mother has had five husbands. Anna Nicole was born to her when she was 16, so A.N.'s father had to be at least close to the first, and the mother's 1st child was allegedly that of a family member. Incest and molestation runs in families. Maybe I believe this because I lived through my mother's 4 marriages in "Podunk, Texas" and had trouble forgiving her for what was done to me for the sake of my mother's "true love". A.N.'s problems with her mother might have stemmed from not feeling or being protected from men when she was too young to protect herself.

When anyone who tried to get close to Anna he came between them, her mother said months ago she wanted her daughter to get off drugs, and Anna din't want to hear that. Anna din't want any part of the poverty she came from. That grandmother has every right in the world to her flesh and blood grand-daughter. He wants the big money, but how can the infant inherit money when her mother wasn't even in the old guy's will? unless they give her something out of pity, the baby doesn't resemble Howard one bit.

Apparently Anna Nicole was ashamed of her low socio-economic background and upbringing. The only solid negative comment she's had about her mother was that she "beat" and "whipped" her as a child.
