I started buying little things after I was through the first trimester. Since my dad made his crib & dresser, we didn't have any major expenses to worry about. Had that not been the case, we'd have waited until the end of the second trimester to make the big purchases. I wouldn't wait longer than that, because there's always a chance the baby could come early.

Purchase clothing and supplies (especially diapers!) throughout your pregnancy. It helps to make a list and keep it updated and in your purse. That way if you find something on sale, you can pick it up and check it off. Without a list, it's easy to forget what you've already got.

I'm going to have a baby shower in May, but since this isn't a typical baby shower (most people will be giving us money instead of baby things, and we didn't register anywhere because no one will use our registry), I've begun browsing baby things online. When I reach my 7th month, I plan on buying a few onesies (and also any baby clothes that are on sale or clearance items) so I can wash them beforehand and make them nice and soft. I think you can start shopping gradually, especially when there are always sales to be had, but I plan on doing the bulk of my shopping a month before I'm due. For now I'm just setting up the nursery by painting it and buying wall stickers.

Ok the best thing you could do is wait till you find out what your having first. Because you don't want to buy some stuff and something bad happens or you might buy something you might not like later on.

Honestly, I don't think it's ever too early. I know that there's alot of supersticions, but, if you know that you want more than one child, then you can start to stock up on essentials at any time. ( I'm not even pregnant, but, whenever I see a cute outfit on clearance, I buy it & put it away.......even if I don't have whatever gender it's for as my first, &, I know I want more than 1, I can just set it aside incase I can use it for my 2nd....or, even give it to my sis when she has one)

i didnt have anything until saturaday when i had my baby shower and i am 38 wks. i would say as soon as you find out what the baby is it could help and make you not stress about if your going to have everything you will need for the baby when he/she gets here.
