Hi any thoughts on a less expensive route to buy eyeglasses other than an optical store. I need to replace the ones I broke and can't afford to spend what I paid for them right now.. Thanks alot.

I lost a pair of glasses a couple of years ago and got some cheap ones from eyeglassdirect.com. If you still have your prescription, it's pretty easy. They don't have a lot of frames but the price is right, around $30 for a pair of prescription glasses. Plus you can get half off a second pair! They fit well, I can see fine and I'm still wearing them.

(this only applies if you broke your FRAMES): I've gotten cheapo glasses (usually sun) and asked my optometrist to put my lenses in them. they can't guarantee that the frames won't break, but i haven't had any problems with that happening. drug store glasses tend to just be reading glasses, so that doesn't help me out too much. ask your eye dr if they are willing to do it and if you can just stick with the same basic frame shape, maybe they can pop the lenses right into them. or maybe they'll need to grind them down a bit. check first before you take the advise of a total stranger-it can't hurt to ask!

at lenscrafters theyre kinda cheap but they also have a box there where u can put good eyeglasses that have been used. im not sure what they do with them but u mite be able to find a pair in there and put in new lenses if they would let u do that.
