There is alot of different opinions over this, I think what got the dixie chicks their grammys was people's curiosity, being that not very many radio stations will play their songs, people would download their songs out of natural curiosity to hear what they recorded after such a controversial statement, so their song " Not Ready To Make Nice" became the number one downloaded song on the charts.

That was my first thought even before the awards were given: they got all the nominations to send a Bush-bashing message. I am not surprised in the least.
Although I don't like them, I do think it proper to recognize that they really do have some talent, but they abuse it by their lack of patriotism. Their sound is usually OK, some of it is even pleasant or catchy, but it definitely is not award worthy.
Verdict: listen at your own peril if you really wish, but don't buy, and especially don't buy in!

As I said earlier in another post, they'll never equal Dylan,so it doesn't bother me. The Grammys give awards to rap. Ok? LOL! I really turned in to watch Sting play with the other members of The Police.

Actually, most country musicians are Republicans and you can be sure that many of them have won Grammys. Despite what you might like to believe, not everything is politically motivated. Not everyone agrees with you about the Dixie Chicks' music.

I like the Dixie Chicks music, but I agree with you on the reason they won.
I with the artiest would keep there politics to themselves. They are wrong about 95% of the time anyway.

Actually I've listened to a number of the Dixie Chicks' songs and I thought they were very well written and the beats were unique... and I'm black!
I think if liberals really wanted to just give awards to groups who don't deserve them they could have chosen any number of Lindsey Lohan's are Britney Spears sound alikes.

We live in america and we are afforded liberties, one being freedom of speech,if conservatives had their way we would lose that right and would be told how to feel. Remember Clinton, what about that bashing?

What is the biggest kicker of all is that country music fans vote Republican and many hate everything the dicksy ***** stand for and are ashamed of what they have brought to the business.
The dicksy ***** knew they did not win on talent when they said the first amendment is what won it for them.

No and No. They ARE that good, they write their own music and play their own instruments, they were the darlings of the country music scene and pretty much got to do whatever they wanted musically before the whole controversy. Now they had to start all over again in a different genre and they still managed to make an AMAZING CD with Rick Rubin...can't you just give it up and admit that these WOMEN have talent? If they were men, none of the controversy would have happened and you know that.
