Yes, its horrible watching someone you love so much your heart is breaking seeing them suffer in pain, my mom died of breast cancer and having to sit at the side of her bed watching her in pain was agonising and so unfair, it was far too late for her even if a cure for cancer had become available overnight, knowing how hard she worked and loved us all was damn hard seeing her life end in agony and I so wished she could have had the pain taken away from her to stop her suffering sooner, I have a dog whom I love and adore and I know if her quality of life was over then I wouldn't hesitate to have her life ended, amazing how its an option for animals but not for humans.

I agree, it's all about choice. What one person is comfortable another may not be. That doesn't mean one should cotton-pad the world for the extremists. I am FOR the choice, the option of euthanasia. Hospital doctors all do it already anyway, they just don't do it officially. Why make them criminals for something they are doing at the patient's request and which eases their suffering? A doctor cannot always cure a patient but if they can soften their suffering - a good, caring doctor will do that.
I know some very beloved pets - pets who were completely part of the family and as real a family member as any human - have their suffering taken away with incredible love and emotion. It is not a cold act, it is a rich, emotional and loving one.
People should have that choice for themselves. and not be told what's "best for them" by some governmental wagging finger - one who doesn't even know them personally.
Whatsmore, if euthanasia was legal (it's legal in some places) - we'd have much more control over it. So that people didn't abuse it.

I'm for euthanasia. It's already practiced in the Netherlands and in Switzerland. The laws surrounding this practice are very strict. You can only do it if you are sure to die, and that you're starting to suffer (like if you have cancer, for instance, and the morphine doesn't work anymore). And you go to a clinic to do it. I think you might be able to get it if you are a "vegetable", but I'm not sure about that, I don't know all the details.
Yes, I would definitely sign a paper saying that I would want to be euthanized if I were in one of those situations.

I think it should be allowed - in certain cases.
But the problem is, you see, if euthanasia is legal, then a whole lot of murders can happen - disguised as euthanasia.
I think euthanasia should be an option, but there should be strict rules and a number of people (doctors, family, the patient himself when possible) should agree on it before it takes place.

I´m a yes, I´m not religous I therefore think that I should be able to commit suicide (or attempt it) without breaking any law, they should just introduce a new form that you could get from the post office, which allows you to register your wish to die prematurely, obviously the proceedings should be extremely secure, and you should have decent enough reason, ie not just becasue you didn´t want to go to work ever again or are fed up of EastEnders

When DH Lawrence finally got Lady Chatterly's Lover published, it opened the floddgates to all sorts of rubbish being published. I think the same will be true of Euthanasia.
Where will the line be drawn, how will it be policed, how will it be done and where?
All this needs to be answered before we start otherwise, who knows where it will lead?

Think carefully about advocating euthanasia! It can, and therefore if it became legal, it would be, abused. I could quietly kill my rich old aunt, and claim that she 'wanted' to die! Obviously, it's not as simple as that, but you get the idea!
On the face of it, it's a very seductive idea. Someone you love is in great pain and wants to die. You may want to remove their suffering, but lurking in the shadows could be someone thinking "I wish he/she would kill him/her quickly so I can get my hands on.....! It need a lot of thinking about.
