Yesterday, my sister was having a horrible day, so she came over and we rented gamecube games and ate pizza and chicken and anything else we could think of to eat and my dad called and told me to do my dishes and I was like "I will in a minute, Dad, I have to finish this level first.."

And then I hung up and was like "Screw that! This is MY HOUSE!"

He said "what are you doing?" I said "We're playing video games and I cooked chicken" and he's like "well go do your dishes."

They'll never stop. I'm 20, I live with my boyfriend, and when I talk to my Mama she's always asking "did you set up a doctor's appointment? What about the dentist? Are your taxes mailed yet? Make sure you wipe down your counter, I heard about this new virus..." And going over to my parents' house is worse. They're just used to being parents and want to keep you in their heads as that cute little child they once had. They just don't realize how annoying it is!!

Sounds like your parents are my parents! Is there something we should know????

They will NEVER stop with the parent child relationship. I have the same problem. It drives my boyfriend mad as there is a 9 year gap between us (I'm 28 and have lived away from home for 10 years now) so obviously he's a bit older and VERY independent and yet they treat me like a kid and therefore him like a kid too!

You have your own home and still have school work to do? I'm really confused. You have kids and you're still not sure you're an adult? What do you want? Who pays the rent on your home? Do you work for a living? Are you at College? What goes on?

Parents never quit telling children what to do, no matter if you are 7, or 70 years old.

How bizarre. Why did he ring you up to tell you to do the dishes? How did he know the dishes needed doing? Or, did he call you up to tell you to go over to his house and do his dishes?

Yeah, never gonna happen. I went out with my mother this weekend, She made me zip my coat, picked lint of my sweater, ask me 32 times if i put my money away, asked me if I wanted an ice cream cone from baskin robins while she was getting coffee at the dunkins next door, and buckled my seat belt for me...I kid you not, and I am 25!!!

Parents never stop being parents, no matter how old they are. It's just how we are.
You were right to ignore him, but thank goodness you said it after you hung up.

Why dont you get back at him and call him at like 2 am and tell him to go on a beer and condom run for ya...i think he'll get the point that he should mind his own business.
