Is it about to die? Should I have a repair man look at it? Or prepare for the worst and eat everything in the freezer?

Usually some of this is normal. It might just be that you have it in a cool room and its turning off more than normal. Therefore you are hearing the refrigerant in the condensing tubes gurgle. Is it out in a garage were it is cooler than normal? They will run longer periods of time in the summer to compensate for the heat. What you describe sounds normal. Its when you hear clicking over and over and your lights start dimming with the clicks I would get worried!

honey, it's getting ready to croak. call home depot and order one up online to be delivered or if you want to save some $$, look in the yellow pages under appliances-used. Call around and stop in to inspect their product for (cleanliness, quality etc.). I took the alternate route and saved money and have been very pleased. Make sure though that if you go 2nd hand, that the company will deliver and remove old appliance.

Does it have a frost free freezer? If not, maybe there's severe ice build up. Defrost.

If it's frost free, sounds like it may be time to replace it.
