Let's say for 50p. Problem sorted and Sonia could come back.

Thank you gozaine. I am aware that they are only characters. That was my point. In real life the drama could have been so easily resolved. I was meerely pointing out a weakness in the storyline

Since when did Eastenders ever take the normal logical route for anything, lets face it without the misery they wouldnt have a show,

Surely its time for the script writers to give us something with a really happy ending or to at least make us smile, I used to love the show but now its just totally depressing every time.

Any time you get some characters that bring a spark of life to the show, like Dennis, or even dirty Den they just kill em off quick.. you only have to look at how the ratings shot up when they paired Phil & Grant up again.

personally I cant blame Pauline, Martin and Sonia for wanting out... If I had a life like that I'd want out and fast.

That's a good idea but Ian wasn't going to budge on honouring his Auntie Pauline's will. Martin had to choice but to sell up and move.

What I think will be interesting now is if Ian decides to buy the house off of Martin. I think it might happen because Ian made a comment about it and keeping it in the family.

I've no idea what you are talking about as I haven't seen Eastenders since 1991 but, I'm sure that solution would work perfectly but it probably wouldn't make for as much drama which is presumably what the writers are going for. Martin Fowler and Ian Beale are only characters. The actors just do what's written in the script.
