How to get your URL to show up on search engines like google,yahoo ect?

Hi ive added my URL to search engines such as google,yahoo ect,why isn't it showing up? can anyone help?

If you want to show up at the top of the list, you pretty much have to pay. Yahoo and Google have sponsored links - you bid on keywords and have to pay whatever you bid each time someone clicks your link. It can get quite expensive.

Some search engines will not list a page that's been entered into their index without inbound links. You may need to get another site that is listed on the index in question to provide a hyperlink to your site to get things going. Part of the relevance engine on google is how many people link to you.

Oh, and it takes around 4-8 weeks for the spider to go around in most search engines. Its a soul crushing wait to see what changes you made affect your rank because it occurs at such a delay. Its indexing billions of web pages and it can't all be done in a day.

You'll find tons of advice, and different opinions, on how to get your website on Google and to get it listed higher than other websites.

But everyone agrees on these two basics:

1) Content. You need a lot of content on your website. But not just any content. You need 'relevant' content. If your website is about video games, then you need video game content (popular games, game strategies, game ratings, etc). You will need a different page for each content category.

2) Links. You need a lot of other websites linking to yours, preferrably from websites with the same content as yours. This can be difficult to obtain, since most website owners will not link to your website unless you either pay them, or unless you also put a link to their website on your website. The latter is called a link exchange. Many search engines are suspected of penalizing websites that engage in link exchanges, so be careful. It's called Search Engine Optimisation (or optimization if you're american) - just Google that and you'll find lots of sites explaining the best ways of going about it.

Your site needs to get popular, Google, and the Yahoo, ect has 'Crawler Bots' to see your site/update the pages.

Basically your site needs to have more popularity or have more relevance with the keyword. such as 'games' but if your website url is games4295.host.com, then it wouldn't have much impact near the top.

If you had Games.com, then you would have alot.

You also need to use meta tags in your html code. Meta tags are what the bots look for. Make sure your index page is loaded with them. As an example, if your site is related to dogs, you would enter in the meta tag area. That will boost your ratings in the search engine(s).
