If you have any basic knowledge about the Yudhistara (the eldest of Paandavaas,in Maha Bhaaratha scripture),You may have heard of YAKSHA PRASNALU( the questions asked by a celestial body,to Dharmaraj or Yudhistira to answer to gain back his brothers,who were there lying motionless after drinking the water from the lake).
The First question is this; WHAT IS THE MOST PECULIAR OR
THOUGHT PROVOKING BEHAVIOUR OF HUMANS?
Yudhistara answers this way'' Even though every human sees frequently, somebody or other dying, being cremated or burried,HE/SHE thinks that HE/SHE IS NOT GOING TO DIE AND IS IMMORTAL.And behave in life with a srong beleif that death is not there for them.
This is the eason every human (mostly, I mean) aspires to accumulate wealth beyond his or her needs, acquire properties and build palacial buildings with all facilities as thogh he?she is there forever to enjoy them.This is very peculiar human nature.
With the Birth of every person his death is also born.Every human knows his /her birthday ,while living, but he does not know when is the Deathday?Death will be following like a shadow all time.None knows where he breathes last, either in his Palacial building,or in office,or in restroom,or in while drivingvehicle on road,or in hospital etc etc.None knows where..But one day SURELY HE/SHE has to leave permanently , leaving all he acquired,kith and kin etc etc.
But almost all humans are bound to behave as if they alone are going to be living for ever without death, that means they will not entertain the thought of their own death,
His is the reason for the humans to become GREEDY,SELFISH and self centered.They need not be pessimistic, .Infact most tend to be OPTIMISTIC and DO THINGS FOR THEIR ETERNAL IMMORTAL(THEIR THOUGHT) life.
If a person remembers always, that along with his/her birth he carried his/her death too into the world, then he becomes more pious ,generous,broad minded and loves all probably.
SO THIS ILLUSION HAS TO GO.HE HAS TO UNCOVER THE BLANKET OF IGNORANCE THAT IS COVERING THIS FACT.Until then the things continue to be same.

Great question Ranjit! Your point is profound. Yes, considering that we only have a few years to live and considering that we are not going to be taking anything with us when we die, you would think that we would try and make good use of the time that we have on earth and we would be good to each other... instead we are most often selfish and greedy.

I think some of this happens because we don't fully appreciate the fact that there is a life beyond what we live on earth; that is, when we die on earth, we do not completely cease to exist. I believe there is a life beyond it and where one leads it, whether in hell or heaven, is dependent on what actually transpired while they lived on earth.

Since we people don't seem to appreciate the fact that life does go on beyond the earthly life, and since many don't realize that there are consequences for our actions, we continue to live our lives pandering only to our greed rather than considering our fellow man.

I also believe that man cannot be good on his own strength - man needs God and without this awareness, we are going to be sinful people.

I understand all of these and more behaviors are due to the control the limbic cortex has in the human brain. It is based on survival issues, among which is need to control and to be superior to all other organisms. I think this is less a question of character than of physiology. Until we understand the brain, we cannot understand the person who has one.
We really can't prove that man is mortal. Yes, we have the evidence of dead bodies, but no particular indication of what may or may not happen to the person's consciousness when their body dies; hence, we cannot prove or disprove man's mortality. But once again, the need to be immortal and to imagine oneself to be, are ruled by the limbic cortex (among which is the amygdala).

Man is mortal but he does not always believe in after life and next life. Some people think that they will lead only one life and should live it to the max. He is self centered as he wants the best for himself and sometimes for his family. We are so busy in the race of life that we seldom forget that we are mortal and all the worldly possessions will be left behind.

i always say about 85% of this world is pessimistic, self-absorbed because they think they too cool for the world. in truth, they do get further in this world but are they really the happier ones though they put on this image to others that they are happier and more successful than their peers. They live in a fake world with false beliefs of whats right and wrong, even if that means hurting people along the way. They get pleasure in making fun of the people who are opposite of them I think its because they jealous they cant be like them. Because after all, for some it is hard to be nice, positive, happy, and not judgmental. But I must admit it i hard sometimes to live in this world with such people.

From my own experience, the root cause is fear. Fear of not being good enough, not being loved or accepted. Fear of not having enough. Fear of dying. Fear of not being good enough. Fear of the unknown. Mankind can be and is driven by a thousand forms of fear.

If we let it, fear will dominate our actions (and does for a lot of people). Personally I accept the way I am and realize that I am powerless to control the actions of others. I can, however, control my reactions. Do I have things I fear... sure. but I don't let it control my life. I'd prefer to be serene than live in chaos and fear. Life is too short, live it like an unknown adventure (which it is) and enjoy it.

I am sorry to say but that is a lot of people that are like that. Everyone has there own story to why they are like the way they are and who are we to judge them?
Just know who you are and what you are is important. If you can do that you will know that is where they at and just accept. Hope that you can have some influence in their life.
