The movie was a good interpretation, not great, of the book. I only say that because it got me to think of the book's ideas in a different view or more in depth. The book was a winner!!
The possibility of Jesus having children is not that hard to believe. We don't know all the true facts of any historical story. We only know what a small sub-set of stories that are still floating around tell us. We don't know even if they are completely true or not!!
Think of other historical events that are even more recent than the life of Jesus. There's always new facts coming to light. New stories that were either lost&found or made up... who knows....
A curiosity in my mind is the Ages that have passed that changed due to new "human" thinking of what the Bible says. The Dark Ages, the Reformation, the Crusades, the Catholic version vs the Church of England version vs the Jewish version vs the Arab version vs the Asian (?) version etc, etc, etc, is all human interpretation of one history. It followed the movement of human travel.
I'm not a fully knowledgeable historian; but I am really interested in history, and have done some research the last few years. I know I have a lot more to learn, and this book and movie has added a new topic for my studies...
I know this may get a few people mad at me, since I don't just blindly believe the church's current version. But I believe that if we weren't meant to think and research we would not have been given such a wonderful tool as our brain. My thoughts are a mix of "blindly believing" and "thinking through the facts". Unless someone comes down here and tells us all in a manner we all understand what is the true history, then I have to question the human interpretation of a few dreams and stories.

I think if you'd already read the book The Da Vinci Code (I had) it was a straightforward literal translation from paper to screen, and therefore easy enough to follow.
If you hadn't already read the book (my boyfriend hadn't) then it was difficult in places to follow.
Overall I thought it was like the 1st 2 Harry Potter films - gave the readers a literal translation to screen of the book, but didn't inject anything else and therefore was a rather pedestrian film. I like Ron Howard's movie Apollo 13 though (same director).

I actually saw the movie before I read the book, so the movie made me want to read the book even more. I would say that the book is much better than the movie, even though the movie was enjoyable.

The booklet used to be sooooo a lot greater than the film. I fairly suppose Brown's different booklet (angels and demons?) might be greater for movie variation. PS-I am an Evangelical who can revel in fiction as simply that, fiction.

It makes you think that Jesus married and fathered a child.
