I pierced my nose myself (ice cubes to numb then a needle and a screw in tiny stud earring) when I was 17. I wore it until I graduated from college at 24 and I am now 34. I have a scar which people often comment looks like a zit. I do not think the hole is still open and I have no desire to wear jewlery of any kind any more so I haven't tried in many years. The only thing you can be sure of in your life is that you will change. Will you be willing to live with a scar for the rest of your life? On your face?
Personally, I don't regret it at all, but then, I've always been a very self-confident person and little things like this tiny scar I never even think of don't bring me down. I know other people who obsess about these things, and that's a downer for them. How will you feel down the line? Its hard to know.

a lot of people who answered this question probably don't even have, or have had their nose pierced.
to those comments about using common sense because yours ears have a permanent hole, a piercing in your nose is NOT THE SAME, as a piercing in your ears!
a nose piercing, if done correctly with a hollow needle and jewelry, NOT with a gun, will not be too painful.
the worst part is after-wards when it is sore for about a week.
it will hurt if you accidentally knock it while washing your face or changing your shirt, but if you are very careful and aware of what you are doing, then you should be fine.
the gauge of the jewelry that you were pierced with will determine the size of the hole.
my jewelry is a 16ga, and when i take it out to change or clean it, the hole is barely visible, and with time to let the piercing close up, there will be a tiny mark on the top, but the hole will more than likely close up quickly.
that is why they recommend that you use a clear retainer if you must remove your jewelry, because the hole will heal up very quickly.

I got mine done when i was 18, took it out shortly after, I don't have a hole in my nose but i do have a tiny scar! It really didn't hurt the day i got it, it hurt the next day, and the first time i had a cold, because of all the blowing of your nose, you can irritate the area of the piercing. It all depends on how long you plan on having the piercing though the longer you go with it the worse the scar can get.

its a lil painful but not much worse then getting ur cartilege in ur ear done....and if you take it out, as i did after having it for about 6 months, the hole does close up. sometimes there can be a lil tiny barely there scar but it isnt noticeable...but they do get infected really easily. i had my nose done twice in the same spot b/c it closed up the first time when it got infected and i tried cleaning it...then i got it repierced in the same spot and the same thing happend. they look cool but i figured it wasnt worth it to keep it...im 19 right now and to get a good job around where i live you cant have facial piercings, plus i kinda grew outta it.

My brother pierced his nose when he was 17. He removed his ring 10 years ago. His hole is NOT open but there is a divit in his skin where it used to be. Holes will close with time, part of the skin renewal system in your body, but the scar will remain. He said it didn't hurt but your eye will automatically water.

Yes it leaves a permanent hole... but just like your ears if you do not wear an earring for some time the hole with close a little bit and you will have to force a stud through, which is uncomfortable. Getting your nose pierced is just like get your ears done, it pinches and sore for awhile but nothing to painful.

the holes aren't permanant in fact i have one and if i take my nose ring out for too long (like a few hours) its hard to get it back in. it isn't very painful to get theres just a big pinch when they stick the needle through and then its over with. it is a little raw and swollen for a few days but after that it looks good and doesn't hurt at all

OK does piercing your ears leave a permanent hole in your ears? yes it does and so would the nose ring. use common sense here! I do not care who you are all piercings hurt no matter where they are.
Is it really worth the hassle? How many colds do you get? what about allergies? things to consider.

Luckily nose piercing was not the fad during my younger days. Because if I had my nose pierced back then I would be awfully embarrassed now at my age with a hole in my nose. The hole is permanent. From what I hear the piercing is painful.
