celebrities are your actors, musicians, anything in the entertainment industry, that doesn't include all the reality shows. people that have been in the Big Brother house, or the villa or anything along these lines doesn't class you as a star, just because you are seen by millions doesn't give celebrity status. Then you get Celebrity get me out of here, or celebrity BB, ok half of the people on these shows have been on other reality shows or are only known by association which to me doesn't give you the right to class yourself as a celebrity.

Nobody who stops to think about it really wants to be famous, unless they are an actor or athelete or something that needs advertising for their career to keep on working. If you look at people who suddenly become wealthy, like winning the lottery, what’s the first thing they do? They buy a big estate somewhere with fences around it, and hire security guards, the same way actors have to, to keep the loons away. It is an occupational hazard for one, but a pain in the neck for the wealthy.
Think of someone who achieves political office. They already paid the price… being out in the public eye, glad-handing, getting votes, kissing babies, making speeches… etc. But now that they have been elected, they must buckle down to work. And if you want to meet them or if some group wants them to appear and give a talk, then you must PAY a fat honorarium, and ask to have it scheduled! That’s why the president has Secret Service, to keep the public from taking up his time. You have to make an appointment to see him. And other guys with lots of clout, like Mafia dons, don’t want publicity either.
One of the most stupid things I have ever heard is “But don’t you want to be famous…?” usually spoken by a reporter who is trying to squeeze some information out of you. If that ever happens, look them in the eye and say “I’ll make you famous, instead.”
A reporter knows that his boss will not hesitate to publicize details of anything newsworthy about him. A reporter knows that he has neither political power nor wealth with which to protect himself, and one stalker or one lunatic can ruin his whole life. They ask people if they want to be famous to see if they are STUPID enough to let their life be made public. And, once the cat is out of the bag, it is impossible to get it back in.
So don’t hesitate to promise to make a reporter famous, if they bother you. And, watch the expression on his face! It’s the fastest and easiest way to get them off your back!

Absolutely. With so much more media there is an insatiable need for "celebrities" to fill magazine pages, TV airtime, and websites. It's a sad thing.

Far too easy - You do not need any talent, to have done anything / worked hard, or have any personality to get this mantle.
What is also very annoying is there are people out there who do so much in their field, eg comic book writers, writers in general, artists, singers etc who would deserve to have more recognition and who do not achieve it.

sure, some of the required steps include: be untalented, get naked, sleep with anything with two, three, four or more legs, get drunk on tv, do drugs, apply to all known "reality" shows, and buy a watch that only reads 15 minutes, then reset it with the above steps before the time runs out.
