The laptop isn't stolen, is it? Ask your friend what the bootup password is. If he/she did not put the bootup password on the laptop, you might check to see if anyone else is playing a trick on you and they can tell you what the password is. Next, you may wish to call the company where it was purchased to see if they can provide you with an administrative password. This will allow you to get the laptop up and then you can go into the setup options and remove or change the bootup password. If you can't find out what the password is, then you will need to reinstall all the software.

Then you better hope that your friend gives you the password because someone password protected the PC in the bios and you cant change it short of removing the prom chip and installing a new one! The chip is surface mount and you will need to take it to a professional and this along with the new chip is gonna cost you about 150 bucks or more!
By the way, the password is stored on a seperate chip from the bios so takin the cmos battery out wont do a bit of good!

in case you propose whilst attempting to go into the bios then you definately will would desire to reset the bios to try this you will could take the conceal off the workstation and seek for a black jumper referred to as bios reset or bios or something comparable. the two exchange it to the different pegs or eliminate it and skill on the laptop then right this moment skill back off and positioned the jumper back to the place it grew to become into. if there are no jumpers do the comparable technique yet this time eliminate the cellular battery on the mummy board If its homestead windows you p.c. to get into and not employing a password then on the post reveal (as quickly via fact the black reveal apears after switching on) press F8 on the keyboard and choose start up homestead windows in risk-free mode, once you have booted in risk-free mode click on start up, administration panel, consumer money owed opt for your account, then click eliminate password
