I consider myself more of an improving driver. Over time (and 3 totalled cars), I've learned to slow down, be more patient, give plenty of room all around, etc. However, because of my 3 accidents, it's made me too cautious in some cases. I have a very hard time riding in a vehicle for extended periods of time with someone else driving (even my boyfriend - a cop) and I swear, I do more driving with my rearview mirror, constantly weary someone is going to rearend me, than ever before.

Generally I think I am ok, I do have the odd moments as no doubt most of us do.
It is a difficult thing to qualify, M Shumaker, must be one of the best, but if he drove on the road like that he would be one of the worst.
I have done a fair bit of amatuer motorsport, and had high speed driving instruction. I think my skill level is pretty good, but I like to drive fast, which is not so good (maybe). I do a lot of miles and really make an effort to maintain maximum concentration, which I think is the key to good driving, because that way you can reduce the risk of getting into trouble, by reading the road well ahead and behind.
As you get more experienced you also get a "second" sense enabling you to spot a "rogue" driver, likely to do something that others might not expect

Yes I honestly feel I am a good driver and passed my Advanced Driving test in 1972 and have driven accordingly since. However, like everyone on this planet, I sometimes make mistakes, particularly when I am tired or frustrated in some way. So I am certainly not perfect but to ensure that I remain safe, I constantly monitor untoward events on the road and use them as experience.
We all need to pull our socks up now and again. Interestingly enough, I feel that I drive better when I am out of work time ... perhaps something to do with stress?

I think most people are at least acceptable drivers.
In my first 10 years of driving, I got one speeding ticket (50mph in a 30mph zone), I was broadsided by someone running a red light on a rainy night with no headlights on, run off the highway by someone cutting across three lanes of traffic at 75mph, and rear-ended in a highway traffic jam. In each of those accidents, there's probably something I could have done a little differently to avoid being in those situations, even though they were not technically my fault. In the last 20 years of driving, no accidents, no moving violations. So yes, I think I'm a pretty good driver.

I believe that I'm a good driver. To substantiate: As a European courier I drive between 80+100 thousand miles a year.So far I have covered 1.3 million miles (14 years as a courier). Before becoming a courier I was a chauffeur to do this professionally I completed: The Rolls Royce chauffeur course, Advanced,Aggressive and Evasive driving courses. Plus I hold HGV and PSV catagories on my clean UK license.
I don't mean to brag but you asked.

I think of myself as a reckless driver. I've driven in 11 different countries for 11 years now, not a single accident or ticket that's stuck. Meanwhile, i've been cutting gaps and have a constant lead foot. I've topped out at 245KMH through mild traffic. Good or bad, its relative to who you ask.
PS- if you get the chance, go to Lebanon just to drive. beautiful country, no road laws enforced, curvy mountain roads, its a perfect drivers location
