This is a puzzle from a late night tv phone in quiz

Add the miles

Derby 7 miles
Leeds 82 miles
Durham 155 miles

The answer was 619 miles but how does that work??

I think you are adding the road distance (which may not be direct) and not the distance between he cities. You probable have to study the AA to get the answer.

I thought maybe it assumed you have to travel back to the starting point to go from one place to the next so you go 155 miles to Durham, then 155 back, then 82 miles to Leeds, then 82 back, then 7 miles ot Derby, but this is only 481 miles.

82*3=246
155*2=310
7*9=63
sum=619
i dont know what is the question exactly but i guss its the rout of the trip or the arrangement to get the 619?
any way you have 4.5 trips to derby 1.5 to leeds and 1 to durham
bear in mind half a trip is just to go 1trip is go and back
