I read somewhere that 10 Downing street is the most recognised address in the world. Whats so special about it? Is it some kind of tourist destination or what....... c'mon pipo, help me out.

10 Downing Street is the residence and office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, situated on Downing Street in the City of Westminster, central London.

Currently occupied by Tony Blair.

I'm actually in shock that this question is being asked!! The US education system is really terrible if they aren't teaching you stuff like this. My God!!!

10 Downing Street the address of the British Prime Ministers. This is like someone from outside the US asking ... 'What's so special about this White House thing?'

As the most powerful country in the world, the US really has to start educating its people in things OUTSIDE the US.

It's the Prime Minister's residence. To alienaviator, why do you assume the OP is American? Ain't that a bit racialistic? He spelled recognised with an 's', and Americans would spell it with zed. You do realise that this "internet" thing is world-wide, and that loads of people around the world can read and write English (or something close to it)?
