Has been said 2500 approx years ago by Heraclitus.

"War is the father of all and king of all, who manifested some as gods and some as men, who made some slaves and some freemen. (DK22B53)"

He is right. For example, let's take the "friction" between a car tyre wheel and the ground. Friction is the "war" between the ground and the tyre. If there is no friction the car cannot start moving if it is stopped or cannot stop if it is moving contition.so the war is a necessity.
I could bring you more examples. but the place is not to write a book.

The question that you poise here is an extremely arbitrary subject at the least !
War is never Good---unavoidable at times---necessary at times---but never Good ! A great number of us that have been up close and personal with it can tell you first hand of the horrors and unbelievable tragedies wrapped in war's shell of reasonings, causes, and explanations !! War's "benefits" are only visible when the outcome has been favorable in comparison to the alternatives !
You post -- would there be the world we know (if there had been no war)--- and the answer here is a resounding NO----what we have within the world is the result of continual war since man learned to use a club to attack others FOR any reason at all and others learned to use bigger clubs to defend themselves (that's pretty much from the very start !!!) And, even the present day we live in would be CONSIDERABLY different if there were no wars !!
An unending point of interest with ME has always been that from the beginning it seems---that any side within any war always holds to the core "principles" that THEY are / were in the "right"---when viewed close in---the "reasonings" and "causes" at the heart of even the most horrid of world class foes have held to a belief that they HAD CAUSE to be doing what they were doing---there is no history of even the worst of the "criminal" "war mongers" doing what they did with a proported belief that what they were doing was simply because they were Evil and Did So out of nothing more than a desire to inflict pain and agony upon the world !! They seem to have all held to beliefs that what they were about "had just cause" no matter how twisted their thinking was about it all !!
There is a song by Bob Dylan called "With God on Our Side" that I would recommend to anyone to hear an overview in very poetic terms about this very thing --- the belief that anyone involved in war has of what they're doing --- no matter what side they are on !!

Would this world exist as we know it with no war? No. War has been a very influential factor in history, for good or for ill, so if there had never been any wars, the world would look very different.

Could countries exist without war? Ask Switzerland!

Sometimes war is better than the alternative however. But nowhere near as often as warmongerers like to pretend. Have you noticed how every opponent of one's country is portrayed as the new Hitler?

Well war is never pleasant nor wonderful, however sometimes it is necessary. Our soldiers fight for the freedoms we are blessed with, the most important I believe being freedom of religion. If war will allow me to worship my God freely, then I think it is necessary. God has allowed wars before to let his people worship him, although I don't believe God enjoys war. The old testament is chalk full of wars that were faught so that God's people could worship, however usually God pretty much scared the enemy away, like when Gideon lead his army and they threw down the clay pots and scared the enemy (in Judges). That's what I believe, you don't have to agree. Good question, a very difficult one to answer.

some of the great people that Earth had said something like war is necessary for keeping a world number balance, or to get rid of the ones that can not adapt to whatever, or for the best race to lead...and so on
personally, i do believe that the war is a man invention, not an instinct and i also don`t believe that crap with let the best win!
what exactly means "the best"?

War can be necessary because of a certain state of affairs, but war is never good. The rise of Nazism in Europe, for example, necessitated a war in order to stop this great evil from enslaving great parts of humanity, but war itself is never good and should be avoided unless necessary.
It is true that wars help countries form and expand, but as far as the people are concerned, can that really be considered a benefit? Had you been born under a different flag, would you really had missed the one you live under now? Countries have no thoughts, no identities besides those of the people who inhabit it.
It is interesting to note that when ancient Chinese historians speak of war, we usually find no reference to the glory of the military in them. They tend to say things like: Sure, the country expanded under this leader, but many people died because of his ambitions and for this reason, he can't be considered a great emperor, etc...

War is never good but sometimes it is necessary.

And sometimes it most definitely is not.

Consider what would have happened if the Allies hadn't gone to war against the Nazis in WW2? That's a case in point where war was definitely necessary, I think.

War is hell! No doubt about it. But sometimes it's necessary.

War is good for the purpose of eliminating a Suppressor.
Ex; to get rid of a Hitler or any tyrant who violates the rights of human beings. In this case, it is the greatest good for the greatest number.

If we can really be human beings, war would neither be necessary nor good. In other words, war is caused by the 'animal' in us. If we can use our faculty of logic and communication properly, there would never arise a cause for war.

wars should go back to old school....be less action and more polititcs. I recall learning about the Zulus who treated war as a serious strategy battle in which defenses and offenses were used but nobody died.
